Music Monday: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany's

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?

  • Jessica, Executive Director – Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Soundtrack by Henry Mancini.

I just read this great book – Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman by Sam Wasson– about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I learned a lot, particularly about the role that Henry Mancini played in introducing popular jazz to film soundtracks – which at the time were mostly orchestral. I also learned about the fight he had trying to get “Moon River” into the film, and obtaining studio approval for Johnny Mercer to write the lyrics. Old Hollywood gossip plus a great song to boot!

You can listen to the soundtrack here Henry Mancini – Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
